Based in research, participants will engage in conversations about Fixed and Growth Mindsets, and what that means for instruction. We will discuss how teachers can shape mindsets to aid students is becoming more successful learners. The presenter will help teachers reexamine their classroom culture, as well as discuss the engagement of parents in the adoption of a growth mindset. How do the SEIT and the classroom teacher collaborate to promote positive outcomes in children with challenges in language, attention and physical activity? Teachers will learn to look at the classroom environment as the basis for intentional teaching, consider what types of questions might encourage children to explore and learn, and discuss the importance of STEM vocabulary. Teachers will participate in exciting hands-on activities that can be used to both challenge students and encourage them to develop higher order thinking skills. You will walk away with concrete ideas about how to integrate robotics into your classroom. In this hands-on workshop, you will build a LEGO® robot from a blueprint and program it to make use of its motors and sensors.
